TALKOMAT
How does it make me feel when raising my voice brings animals threatened by extinction onto the screen? When invisible facts suddenly become clearly visible?
Talkomat is an action tool that can be used in a variety of contexts and invites to discourse about a topic close to your heart. One's own thoughts, questions and ideas are expressed into a microphone. The curved wall reacts to the input in form of photographs and videos with the goal to raise awareness. The closer the viewer is to the wall, the more abstract and graphic the animals appear.
The action tool is easily accessible in public space and invites to participate as it consists of LED panels and a station with a microphone.
For the annual exhibition of Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle, it featured "Was bleibt?!", a work on the topic of species protection in Germany as life in forests, waters and meadows is noticeably declining.
This project is my Bachelor Thesis together with Alina Weber. Supervised by Prof. Karin Schmidt-Ruhland, Prof. Christian Zöllner and Martin Hensel. 2021
